I’m going to tread very dangerously here, and it may sound hypocritical after my admonitions of recent days that we need to adjust to a new landscape and new realities in the sport … if this had become such a cult of personality around Saban alone, maybe a little house cleaning and restructuring and “don’t let the door hit you in the arse when you leave” is in order to move away from that even if in the short term it makes people insane or even causes us a bit of pain.

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that we had a ton of guys here for reasons other than "I want to play football for the University of Alabama" (specifically, they were here to say they played for Saban and/or get to the NFL) and that getting rid of them may not be the worst thing in the world.

1000%.

I believe we are currently in the shift right now. It's a lot different than what we've grown used to, which was a football factory in a sense with no allegiance to the university.
