There are a lot of things that make up a deal. Coaching, money, ability to compete, quality of life....you might take less NIL so you can be developed by a better position coach. Or if you are adverse to extreme cold you might take less money to go southward. It's not unheard of in any professional sport to hear of players taking less money for various reasons. Money is a portion, but not necessarily the entire thing.

If you come from a depressed monetary situation you might make money a top priority, though. It all depends on the individual circumstances of each player and what they place value in.
