Hear me out.

He kept Pete Golding around.

He hired Tommy Rees.

He wasn't aggressive in the portal for a new QB before this season?

It was said the team chose Milroe as the starting QB by team vote.

Speaking of Golding, Saban chose him over Tosh Lupoi. Lupoi is the Oregon DC and easily a top 3 recruiter in all of college football

Giving Milroe game reps over a pocket passing, defense reading QB.

Honestly? No. I think he was tough and demanding to work for and a lot of younger coaches don't want to work under those conditions. (Kirby Smart is tough to work for, too)

Don't misunderstand...his toughness was a big part of his success. he demanded excellence. But younger coaches don't like that anymore. It's what society has become. Everybody gets a trophy and you can't be mean to anybody or you hurt their feelings.

If true about the team vote choosing Milroe why would you allow the team to determine the most important position on the team?

People don't mind tough taskmasters in leadership positions. But, when you start making bad decisions you lose credibility. Saban made a lot of bad decisions after Sark left. Sark was masking a lot of ineptitude.
