Pretty soon, likely this coming season, you will also see stories of it backfiring for kids as well though. Famous kid with a secure starting job transfers so he can feel the love and gets benched at the new team with NFL dreams in the gutter and nowhere to go.

The NFL has actually gotten much better the last few seasons after guys like Antonio Brown and LeVeon Bell got told to shove it and ruined their careers. Players and their agents think twice before playing games that can backfire. I think college will be tough to watch for 3 or 4 years and eventually the pendulum will swing back.

In a completely open free agent market every year like the players want they actually hold much less power because they are so replaceable and schools will pay less without a 2 or 3 year guarantee you will stay.
