Maybe coaches are getting tired of working with coaches like Saban that are borderline abusive



Asst. HC is less valuable for becoming an actual HC than having coordinator in his title. I don't have the list beside me but it felt like asst. HC in the Saban regime was usually an honorific given to a coach who was valuable as a recruiter but wouldn't be trusted with coordinating anything besides special teams.

Saban was never going to offer him the OC role and coordinator experience (with success) is practically a prereq for becoming a head coach. It's simple as that.

He’s not really our OC but it helps the resume I guess
