I don't think that was the case but I was openly musing whether he had outlived his effectiveness as a WR coach at Alabama in the postmortem analysis from the Rose Bowl. His evals on WR prospects have been loaded up with busts lately. He inherited the God Mode WR room (Smith, Juedy, Ruggs, and Waddle). Metchie is basically the only high school WR commit in his tenure that has finished his career at Alabama as a highly productive receiver. The entire 2020 and 2021 WR classes busted out and transferred. The story is in progress on the 2022 and 2023 WR classes: Bond (seems positive), Prentice (less so), Hale, and Law. Milroe really needed that bonafide 1st round grade NFL receiver to be a security blanket much like what Cooper was for our last utterly deficient QB (Blake Sims). That guy didn't exist partly due to Wiggins missing in eval or failing to develop them once they arrived.
