I have seen those charts on this site before. I am not computer savvy enough to find or link them, but when you find them, they will show Alabama the least penalized. And their opponents are the most penalized.

The particular chart I have seen was vs. SEC competition only. It gives a per game average of number of penalties and yards. In other words, if you add up the number and yards of penalties of each team's opponents in that particular game, and average that out per game, Alabama's opponents are penalized at a higher rate for more yards than any other team in the SEC.

I'm not the only one who has seen this information, and it dated back several years. The Auburn games of '04 and '06 is the reason it was even mentioned. Usually officiating is only pertinent or relevant when discussing. losses.

Normally, you will see the teams that have fared the best end up leading in penalties. This is true in college and professional. Florida and LSU led the nation the past two years, and won the NC each time. I think this falls under the subjectivity of giving the underdog the benefit of the doubt.

Given Alabama's performance over this decade, I guess they have been the underdog quite a bit. But, the numbers are still somewhat disturbing.
