Probably not. It matters more how a team does in conference play than in a bowl game vs a team they will never play against in the regular season. What interests me is in using bowl games to evaluate other teams/coaching staff. I have noticed that a lot of teams seem to have a winning record in a minor conference. The win/loss numbers look deceptively good. A bowl game against a decent team can clarify the situation.
