QBs generally go into the portal so they can go plug and play somewhere, not to sit and learn. That's a hard sell. I think you're better off trying to develop HS guys and use the portal for a stop gap if you end up in that situation.

Nate Clifton is an interesting prospect in the portal, DL out of Vandy. Would seem to fit well as an end in our front from a size standpoint.

Maybe so...but we had pretty good luck, before the portal, with a guy who transferred and had to sit the bench for a year. A kid might take a look at 4 Alabama QBs currently on NFL rosters and decide it's worth it.
