Has a team ever gone from #8 to #4 with a conference win and made playoffs? I genuinely don't know.

No team ranked higher than #6 going into conference championship week has made the playoffs.

Gee, if only there was a source you could go to and find out.
While you're at it, you could see the most top four teams in one season going into championship weekend have lost.
