Based on what happened in the NC game that year and it being an SECCG against a Bama team that Kirby hadn’t beaten, I don’t think motivation was the issue. Bama with healthy wide receivers was clearly better than UGA. Bama without them clearly was not. Injuries happen in sports all the time, and sometimes the healthiest team at the end is the one left standing.

2022 Braves pitching injuries sucked, and not having Charlie Morton this year hurt as well (although not sure he would have made a difference)

I apologize. Seems that I've allowed this thread to evolve into a discussion of the 2021 season by engaging in a post involving elements of that season.

Let's bring it back, in focus, to this season. Those guys are, mostly, in the NFL, UGA has back-to-back natties, and we are living in 2023 with players who want to make the playoffs on both squads.

Or we could talk about next season, in which this game would have little consequence other than the winner likely getting a bye, and the loser likely getting a home playoff game. It’s wild how different the consequences will be for the game on Saturday vs. future seasons.
