That game was a "must win" for one team only: Bama. I don't think Kirby lost the game on purpose, though, before anyone brings that shite up. I just think Kirby failed to convince his team that it could be beat.

That wild, considering he is known for his motivational ability.

Based on what happened in the NC game that year and it being an SECCG against a Bama team that Kirby hadn’t beaten, I don’t think motivation was the issue. Bama with healthy wide receivers was clearly better than UGA. Bama without them clearly was not. Injuries happen in sports all the time, and sometimes the healthiest team at the end is the one left standing.

2022 Braves pitching injuries sucked, and not having Charlie Morton this year hurt as well (although not sure he would have made a difference)
