That's the issue in the NFL right now. If you hire a defensive minded head coach and that defensive minded head coach hires a really good offensive coordinator, that offensive coordinator will just get hired as a head coach sooner rather than later, because all of these owners get so happy and gay for offensive minded head coaches.
Kind of like the Lions situation right now. Their OC will be one of the top head coaching candidates for a lot of teams in the off-season, and what will the Lions look like next season after he's gone.

Exactly. This is why no matter how good of a defensive coach you are if you are a head coach you’re sort of at the mercy of your OC.
