And? They weren't competing for the last spot in the playoffs that year.
I'm not arguing that there should never be rematches. I'm saying ignoring head-to-head results when comparing two teams for the last spot is obviously moronic.

If Alabama beats Georgia, that loss to Texas in September where the longhorns had a scoring drive of 4 yards to salt the game away will be forgiven and forgotten.
