People have such revisionist history when it comes to Gus for some reason.

2013 was obviously a great year.
2014 we were really good but choked some games away due to having zero defense.

At worst in 2014, the only rational thought was fire the DC (we did) and fix the defense (which we actually eventually did do). No one thought the offense would go to shite. Jeremy Johnson was still the next coming of Brady at this point.

Then 2015/2016 happened and we started having our doubts. But then we looked good again in 2017.

We fired Gus at the right time. Maybe one year too late at most. We actually probably would’ve been in better shape now if we kept Gus until last year (but that’s also looking at things with hindsight).

Agreed, biggest mistake was giving such a huge raise over an Arky scare, maybe, but yeah I agree with your take.

The late game meltdowns were evident early, even in 2013. The end of 2014 really showed the cracks and how he was a fraud. So no, he most certainly was not fired at the right time.
