The playoff should be about where teams are in November relative to the entirety of the season not where they were in September.
this is the biggest pile of horse shite I’ve seen in a while
Bama got beat by Texas? So what, the look better than Texas now, so let’s give them the spot! frick the actual game they played…
If Texas passed the eye test the rest of the way there is no way Alabama should be selected ahead of them...but Texas has not passed the eye test several times since they played Alabama. Texas lost to a team that lost to a team that just got annhilated by Central Florida...

Head to Head will trump eye test with all other things equal. Despite the context of Week 2 compared to today or even the end of the season, it will and should keep UTx ahead of Bama if neither lose again.
That said, a one-loss Conf champ, UTx and/or Bama will jump over a one-loss Conf champ FSU, Oregon, UW, or Michigan. If not, what is the point of playing a tough schedule?
Bama needs some of those losses to materialize. If they don't and a one-loss Bama SEC Champ is left out, those are the breaks. Many teams have been punished for scheduling a formidable OOC opponent and playing in a good conference.
The CFP committee is only consistent in its inconsistent application of ranking philosophies, so who knows?
All that said, AU is never an easy out, and UGA is a beast, so it's all academic at this point. Still a good bit of football left to upset some apple carts between rivalry weekend and CCG weekend.
