Disagree. If your focus is measurables, maybe. Intangibles and growth oriented learning, certainly not.

18-21 is one of the most significant periods of mental, physical, and emotional development for our society for various reasons. So, timing, opportunity, effort, and luck weigh heavily on a young person's development in pursuit of athletic achievement.

Walk-ons earn scholarships and start, 5*s falter and fail, some college near career backups make it to the NFL and do well.

Look at Stetson Bennett for example.

A walk-on recruited by no one but he has that clutch factor in him that recruit ranking sites either can't or fails to measure.

Has the natural presence under center. Yeah some guys develop this later but with most young QB prospects you can see it almost immediately.

Some guys just play better when the lights are bright and the moment is big. Most people don't have it. The ability to become better in the biggest situations is rare.
