I may be way off base, but I believe he wanted to get out of a 2 score game without injury and forcing UGA to have to go for more points. He’s punched his ticket to bowl season. 9 point loss to UGA looks a lot better than 12-15 point loss. I think Kirby and Eli may be coach friends behind the scenes also.

This makes sense.
Probably see the same thing next week at the end of the game since Lane and Kirby are buds.
