Auburn really just got got by the tale as old as the tournament: average guard play from a high-seed major gets exposed early in the tournament. Auburn was a great team but their guard by committee approach is a risk in the tournament. Alabama may have only split with them and didn't do shite in the conference tournament but I know who is running our offense in crunch time and I know he will play with tempo but under control.

The Sweat Hog is slowly turning into premium brand Frank Martin. In a decade on the job he has advanced past the first weekend one time. Definitely not saying they should make a change, because that would be totally insane, but they do not deserve the kind of hype they get every year.

The one year Pearl made a run at Auburn, they had that undersized little spark plug of a guard who really was the straw that stirred the drink so to speak.

He's a great coach but for whatever reason he rarely seems to have a point guard who you know is his guy to find baskets on his own or by getting his teammates open in crunch time. I think part of it is he's a big believer in generous rotations. Hard to develop your go-to point when you're just playing whoever has the hot hand all season and keeping the minutes/game in the mid 20s.
