We are just good enough to lose a lot of close games this season. We knew the 4 game road stretch was going to be a march through hell, I don't think we realized how hellish it was going to be.

The defense is greatly improved but the offense is fairly toothless. A vast hue and cry shall go out over the land, what if we had Kendall Briles this year?!?!

Well, TCU, who made the national championship game last year, does have him and they are 3-3 right now with the meat of their schedule still to come.

This goes a bit deeper than who our OC is. Or our offensive concept.

We needed Pittman to drag us back from the dead because no one else was willing to. Yes, yes, "Coach X,Y, and Z were willing to crawl over broken glass for this job!" yet all those coaches landed other, better, jobs instead. Sanders did want the job but at the time his top coaching experience was High School coordinator. If we had hired him people would have been rioting in the streets.

I think we have an outside shot of making a bowl, which we would likely win this year. But we are probably at the height of what Pittman can pull off, and that is fine. He brought the program back from the dead and now we can pass it over to someone else.

Broyles, Nutt, and Petrino were all handed good teams with poor coaching. Well, we have a good team with so-so coaching. I think it is time to start easing Pittman out the door and look for the guy to take what he has built to the next level.

Just keep Jerry Jones out of the coaching search for Christ's sake.
