I haven't gone back to verify but, from memory, we consistently start out conservative as frick. Typically run the ball, maybe a lil' bubble screen...short yardage types of plays.
Back in the day, with Stet and Fromm, we would take deep shots early, sometimes even a flea flicker on the first play of the game.
Point being, the slow starts are kind of pre-determined by the scripts of the first drive or two. I get the feeling they don't trust Beck to come out and take shots when he's cold or not yet in rhythm. I'd like to think that that will change as he gets more experience and builds more trust.
