The problem with Texas and Oklahoma playing in the big 12 is that the teams like Texas Tech, OSU, Kansas State, Baylor, ETC. Is that, just like the middle tier of the SEC, those schools can be very difficult to beat especially in their hostile home environment. But when you do beat them your program does not get the bump from winning and if you lose you get ostracized for losing to “Inferior competition”.

And god forbid you should ever lay an egg playing Kansas…. Holy shite, don’t ever do that…

Playing within the SEC will boost both TEXAS and OU in the perception of quality wins, without taking outsized hits in perception for losses.

Marketing is important. The SEC is absolutely the king in that regard.
