Until NIL, bama's $ went to, ahem, scholarships. As Steve Spurrier was fond of saying, their scholarships were more valuable than the ones other SEC schools could give out.

Bama has a very large fan base. But Auburn alums have more money and when you start going down the list of the wealthiest families in the state, you see decisively more Auburn grads on the list.
