The unbridled vitriol we showed UNC fans was a site to behold. The fact that it was unscripted and consistently on target showed that old wounds do in fact mend slowly.
Edited to add link to other thread.

I remember the break away in '71 like it was yesterday ... I remember what it was over, why it happened, how UNC in particular contributed to the entire outcome, what Coach McGuire and Coach Dietzel had to say about it, the feelings of the fan base when it was all going-down, the billboards, the bumper stickers, the daily articles in The Columbia Record ... there wasn't really sports radio back then but they were talking about it daily on WIS Radio (now WVOC 560 AM) ... that was pretty much pre FM days.
I remember the rallies to leave the ACC down in front of the Longstreet ... it was a big deal.
UNC was hated (but McGuire actually hated NC St worse).
I know this guy, long time friend of mine actually, used-to-be on the UNC Board of Regents. He and I talk all the time and he says the fans up there want in the SEC but the leadership doesn't see a slick way out of the ACC unless FSU breaks the ice and he says the UNC emissaries have reached-out to both the SEC and B1G in the event of an ACC breakup ... but no one thinks that's going to happen anytime soon.
It all seems like an exercise in futility from their perspective imho. All the talk is just to make them seem relevant.
From a purely business perspective ... it doesn't make the least bit of sense to bring-in any of the ACC teams anytime soon. 16 is the perfect number for a super conference, especially with our current members and having just added Texas and Oklahoma. 18 teams doesn't really help the SEC and 20 teams is basically two conferences and it completely destroys conference "nationalism" and pride for lack of a better term.
Anyways, y'all represented well in that thread. I stayed out of it and just sat back and enjoyed the teamwork y'all laid on'em.
I'll be glad once the season starts and the expansion chatter ends. We really need to beat UNC just to shut up their one fan on this site.
