The thinking is that eventually having a larger viewer base with more money translates to more money for the schools for enough time to overcome facilities and recruiting gaps with the SEC.
The facilities I can see; I’m not even sure that the Ohio States and Michigans of the B1G are behind, but if they are, that’s solely a matter of money, and they are making more than us. Recruiting, I’m less sure. Money is going to matter way more than any of us want. But TV money isn’t the only money, and there’s a realistic ceiling on money you can throw at recruits even if you have more of it than the other guy. And the SEC has all the other built-in advantages still.
