A team that had been the best team in the conference exactly 1 time, in 46 years was top 5? Bama obviously had more UT had 8 UGA had 7 Ole Miss had 6 LSU had 5 AU had one, like MSU and KY. Less than GT (5)who left the conference 15 years earlier. Less than Tulane (3).

By your own numbers we were 6th in the SEC in SEC Titles from 1966 onward.

At the conclusion of the 1970s, we were 5th in the SEC in weeks ranked in the AP poll, and we were tied with Tennessee and LSU for second in the SEC in National Titles (behind only Bama).

Weeks ranked in AP Poll (1936-1979, national rank)

7. Alabama- 318
8. Tennessee- 250
13. LSU- 208
15. Ole Miss- 190
16. Auburn- 165
22. Georgia- 135

The point of all of this is that Auburn was Big 6 way before we were the SEC’s top program of the 1980s. There was some loser trying to pretend Auburn wasn’t which is absurd.
