College football is about to become a semi-pro league. I don’t like that for the same reason I prefer college athletics over the pros. So why would University Presidents and Board members surrender so much power to 3rd parties? Money baby! What should be institutions of higher learning with the privilege for students athletes to compete in the amateur realm is gone. It’s big business now with all the greed and selfishness that accompany it. I predict 32-48 schools will settle in this new model. But the remaining 70-80 FBS schools will latch onto the old model as much as possible. In the long run, I believe it will be the more popular league because it will entail more geographic rivals with players who are not paid for their loyalties.
