I was pulled over on I-10 for going 6 mph over speed limit and held there for about 3 hours while 2 cops literally tore my rental car apart looking for drugs. ... I learned 2 things. Dont say shite and dont agree to shite.
Sometimes DPS runs an operation where they put 5-6 cars in a small stretch of highway, ticket the smallest infractions and then "request" that each driver "consent" to a search, using all the extra cars.

I got pulled over for not signalling a damned lane change going to the left lane, to get further from where they had pulled someone over on the right lane. I kid you not. And then they asked to search my truck. "No, sir, you may not."

They demanded to know why I did not agree, and I simply said "The 4th Amendment." They did not like it, but I was driving away 30 seconds later. I told the story to the JP on my court date, and he dismissed the ticket.
