Do you really believe they invited one day and moved the next?
Arkansas would've had the same back channeling with SEC reps in 1989. The thought that they'd change their minds in the middle of that and join the Big 8 is pure fantasy borne of a mind hellbent on blaming Texas for all of college football's woes.

How old are you?
I was around back in the old days. Most everybody was pretty happy where it was. Conferences were smaller and more regionalized which mattered to AD's wanting to sell live seats. The old guys remembered the issues of the Super Conference model between WW I and WW II. They knew smaller worked better in building live fan interest. Even today, live fans are 2 to 4 times more loyal than non live fans. Big difference selling live seats when you are 2-10 and not 10-2.
South Carolina and Kentucky have had some of the worst CFB history in P5 schools yet both were usually in the Top 20 to Top 25 in actual game attendance. Stop and think about that, then get back to me.
I know this is the Internet and everybody and to be right but have you ever considered somebody else might know more about something having lived through it the first time?
I said it above, but will say it again ...
IF THE B1G DOES NOT COVET NOTRE DAME, MODERN REALIGNMENT PROBABLY NEVER HAPPENS.
