8 P5 schools in 180 possible slots over that 15 years stretch is not that high of a number.
And just going off the 12 seed you posted, that's including the "play in" which I'm not saying doesn't count, that's 4 of 16 slots.
This isn't some secret, or maybe I just hear it talked about a lot since I follow mid major basketball closely, this is something brought up every march for mid major conferences.

We are going to frick around and end up squarely on the bubble if we don’t start playing good and winning games again.
