I certainly wouldn’t leave my job, and move to a new city, for just a little bit more money.

Lol
You think portal transfers are getting a little bit more money?
Portal is free agency. Limited supply of talent drives up the money.

It is a flawed analogy.

You go to work to make money.
Not to have discussions with your boss about the future.

Trezman isn't like most other transfers.
He rotated with the 1s. First inside linebacker off the bench on a football team known for rotating linebackers off the bench.
But he isn't better than Smael.
His ceiling is Channing Tindall (he has a long way to go to reach that. I think he could at UGA). Like Tindall, he is behind a better player. But reps are split 60/40 between them. 65/35 in some games.
Bama is willing to spend the money to pull him from his team.
We will see if he is Burton 2.0 (pretty good. But probably not better than he could have been in Athens).

UGA just signed 3 elite ILBs in Raylen Wilson, CJ Allen and Troy Bowles. They have Mondon & Dumas Johnson ahead of Trez.

Trez looked at the LB room and realized his playing time wasn’t increasing and that he could even be overtaken by one of these 3 freshman.

This was a business decision. Playing time, tape for NFL - and I am sure more NIL from Bama than he would have gotten from UGA - as his role and playing time will be more prominent in Tuscaloosa.

I didn’t know how finances worked in the previous era, and I am not going to pretend to have a clue how finances work in the new era.

It would take a significant bump for me to leave after a good talk. This scenario is your assumption, and it might be true.

It might not take any bump for me to leave after a bad talk.

Leaving a house to go to work =/= leaving a city to change jobs
