quote:

but what exactly are Pruitt's personal shortcomings?

Not taking personal responsibility for things that "happen" in his world.

Leaving it up to other people to clean-up or manage issues of his own making.

He and Fulmer had alot of two peas in the same pod about them but Fulmer was more experienced at back-stabbling his way up, cutting the legs out from under his superior and taking the credit that was not yet his to take. Fulmer got him before things could fall back on Fulmer.

While recruiting/coching for Alabama he convinced one of the top players he had been working with to hold off a few days and follow him to FL State when the kid was about to commit/sign with Alabama and had silently committed to Alabama prior to the HS All-Star game. He justified his actions because he thought he should have been given an on-the-field role in Tuscaloosa before he was ready. Kirby was the Safety coach, Alabama needed a LB coach and Kirby was not yet ready to move to LB. Saban hired James Willis as the LB coach and Pruit thought he should have been promoted instead of bringing in Willis.

He coached at FL State for barely a year before jumping ship to go to UGA. Then at UGA he Fulmered Mark Richt.

There are more but they all come back to he will lied, stab, and steal without a second thought to advance himself and step on anyone he thinks might be in his way.

That may have been true then, but now a D1 DC is probably his ceiling and he would be grateful to have it.
