I'm not a fan of the hire but to be fair, they replaced him w/a mediocre coach in John L Smith who was massively distracted as his personal life was in full meltdown w/his brother dying and his finances going up in smoke all during the season.

According to a release from the school Friday, Smith is attending the funeral of his younger brother Bart, who died Monday -- the same day as Smith's news conference antics, which went viral, and the same day he signed off on new bankruptcy documents. Bart Smith was 53.

Here's the statement from Arkansas football media relations director Zack Higbee:

"Coach John L. Smith flew to Idaho Falls last night following practice to attend the funeral of his brother (Bart) who passed away Monday.The funeral is being held this afternoon and Coach Smith will return to Fayetteville early this evening."
