The only I know, is that I have never known a team to lose and not drop even 1 spot. TCU lost and remained #3. OSU lost and dropped. Last year UGA was #1 and lost to Bama and dropped. It’s all political because they didn’t want a Michigan/OSU rematch in the semis. They ask the head of committee and he flat out lied they didn’t discuss that.
Which teams besides UGA & Michigan have better resumés than TCU? If UGA and/or Michigan had lost on Saturday by a FG in OT (like TCU), they probably wouldn't have "dropped" in the rankings either. He didn't lie. He said it wasn't discussed in the room while ranking the top 4.

Again though, is it the best 4 teams or the teams with he best resume with one loss or less?
Never has a team losing on the final weekend not dropped. This was done politically for the Big 10, which was shite this year. If they want it this way, then don’t release any rankings until the final weekend and make stipulations that more than one loss need not apply, regardless of shitty conference or schedule.
Essentially, USC was punished for the Big10’s benefit while TCU wasn’t, which was again for the Big 10’s benefit. if y’all can’t see this, then whatever.
Did Bama screw themselves this year? Yep. However, the teams ahead of us that needed to lose (and there were a shite ton) all did. This has always resulted in dropping spots. Always. This year it did until the final TCU shoe dropped and then the rules changed. That’s why I’m pissed.
