I suppose this is more of an off topic thread and may get a few more reasonable responses here.

I've seen so many threads over on SEC Rant cursing Bama and fans because LSU won. I just don't feel this same rush of jubilation. I was super hype after the game, watched all the post game stuff and the recaps on TV Sunday morning. But, that was it. Maybe I'm expecting a lot in the Brian Kelly era and it's just another win. I just don't understand carrying it over into the week.

I think what I really fear is growing up. I don't wanna do it.

Yeah, as someone who's getting up there myself, I feel this.

I certainly think as you get older, the games have less and less dramatic impact one way or the other. I find myself enjoying the tailgates and looking at statistics and trends way more than focusing on the outcomes each week.

For me anyway, it's actually a good thing to rekindle this series and get back to some of the epic matchups we've had in the past.

You guys are in a great place and have a lot to look forward to with the way the program is trending. I'm probably in the minority, because I usually root for all SEC teams to do well, especially OOC (get your shite together, Arkansas!).

And as far as people cursing other fans, I believe there are two types of folks on tRant — those who are playing a fake character of sorts and take it way over the top just to get a reaction, and those who actually believe what they're posting. I honestly think there is a very small percentage of posters who fall into that second category, and we all know who they are.

As much as you and I give each other shite, for example, we both know that we're pretending, just for laughs. The folks who aren't can be downright disturbing at times.

I think the age part is also because we've seen all of this before. We can enjoy it for a little while, or we can hate it, but we know it won't last forever. Anything can happen next. I guess that can also make it more exciting if you choose to accept it, because you never know what's right around the corner... We're going to try and win the party before and after, either way.

Anyway, GG baw. Sucks that we lost, but I really am happy for y'all and all the other good fans on here.

It has the same impact for me as beating any other team to take the top spot in the West. I guess I've never "hated" Bama as much as other fans. My hatred in that way is geared toward Auburn and Florida. I think it stems from having to fight with those teams more as LSU was gaining momentum and at the same time as I was becoming an adult with my own family and running my own tailgate spot.

The older I get the more zen I am about college football. Really, ever since about 2012 I've paid a little less attention to sports in general each year, although Tua and the Dolphins have rejuvenated my interest in the NFL. I still watch all the Bama games, but I don't watch from morning to night like I used to on a Saturday, and rarely get into recruiting anymore.

This is going to sound like a typical, arrogant Bama fan, but we've seen so many great teams over the last 15 years, it was fairly easy to tell this team just doesn't have "it" pretty early. Not to say they couldn't have made a championship run, but it would have taken BoB doing something he appears incapable of.

Same, man.

I like to talk smack some the week leading up to the game, but feel no need to carry it over... unless the beaten team's posters are newly super obnoxious. Hint, hint.

Other priorities fill my days besides work, the outdoors, and college sports now. Wife. Children. Raising them and making memories with them. Even the small things count because I started late. I will most likely be gone shortly after they start having their children and I want to be the best role model and father that I can be. That's a whole lot more important than getting schnockered with my buddies and screaming at the TV or going to the game with them and then talking smack on the Rant afterward.

At the end of the day we all have a lot more in common than we probably realize and the only things that really separate us are the internet and our team allegiances. I'm pretty sure I could drink a beer or whiskey with the vast majority of the board and find common ground. I'm positive that I could drink a beer or whiskey with 100% of the the usual suspects and find common ground.

Never was into the trolling. Like to throw some good jabs but just antagonizing for the sake of aggravating people makes no sense to me.

I’m not sure age is much of a factor. My 83 year old pops had to be talked off the ledge Saturday night…..metaphorically of course. He takes Bama losses pretty bad.

I’m not that emotionally involved about it. And in case you just tuned in, I’m younger than my father.

Harvey Updike never grew up. It was still super important to him, dammit.
