And up to #9 on run defense. Crazy that our pass defense is so bad but we are tied for 22nd in the nation for interceptions. To go along with being 14th in forced turnovers and #13th in Redzone defense. As bad as our pass defense is, we do a lot of other things pretty good on defense.

The pass defense stats are very misleading, as teams tend to pass more when they are playing catchup when Tenn jumps out to usually an early lead. On top of that, Tenn run defense is pretty top notch, so passing becomes their best option.

DC Banks plays a bend/not break scheme to try to eliminate big plays, especially knowing he has a very inexperienced backfield. Most of the yardage Tenn gives up is underneath, and also contributes to a high pass % to opposing QBs.

Not misleading, Tennessee is giving up 343 yards a game through the air. Teams don’t automatically go to the pass when behind. Alabama, Florida, Pitt, we’re all back and forth games.
