Why is so many people having trouble with this? Go look at the replay. Bryce never touched the ground. He threw the ball right before his elbow touched. That’s takes a safety off the board that way. It’s plain as day.

Now let’s clear up the grounding end of the play. When Bryce threw the ball it hit a Texas player right square in the helmet. At that point it’s basically a tipped or batted ball. All bets are off at that point. Players can knock the hell out of each other and it takes grounding off the table since it was tipped. The ball landed harmlessly in the corner of the end zone. It doesn’t matter that Bryce was just throwing it trying to get rid of it. Once it was tipped or in this case thrown and bounced off a guy’s helmet it pretty much voided a grounding call. How can a ball be grounded if a opposing player touches it any way. Besides I think Bama had a running back in the area had it not hit a player and it would have made it to the LOS. This call is not hard to understand or figure out. Take the Bama hate out of the equation and it’s easy to see and figure out.

Missed face mask
Missed safety.
Bama benefits
Wtf else is new.
Question - does Bama pay the refs individually or does the whole crew get goodies?
