Personally, taking the Auburn job would be lame AF and a lateral move, and would make me lose all respect for Kiffin. To me it boils down to this: Has Lane *really* grown and changed, or will he solidify a flaky resume?

Lane has complained about lack of fan support/NIL/etc. and for the most part all of his demands have been met (and then some). That’s fine, but to follow it with laying an absolute egg against an inferior opponent while in talks with a divisional rival, the chickens will come home to roost. And rightfully so.

I’m not naive enough to say that Auburn is a lateral move from Ole Miss, but it’s one that I don’t think makes sense for Kiffin at this point in his career. It pretty much writes him off from ever coaching at Alabama, and instantly puts 2x the pressure on him to win that he has now at Ole Miss. A couple 8-4’s over on the plains and he’ll find himself starting over again at a place like FAU.
