Do you go ahead and make a move so the AD has time to get his feet wet for a few months before they have to potentially hire the most important hire they will make, or do you take that hire out of their hands and go the search committee route again.
I can't recall a Power 5 AD making a move during one of the major sports seasons, so I was thinking from that perspective. I don't think it will come to this, but you can always use a search firm to backchannel coach's agents through the AU Presidents office. It seems pretty obvious he's going to be interested and involved in athletics, unlike Gouge.

With NIL now a major part of college athletics why not hire a sport's agent for the AD role? They tend to have amazing connections and are skilled negotiators.
