Now that the B1G will have USC and UCLA, the national championship count (AP, UPI/BCS/CFP) going into 2022 is:
Southern Cal - 7
Ohio State - 6
Nebraska - 5
Minnesota - 4
Penn State - 2
Michigan State - 2
Michigan - 2
Maryland - 1
UCLA - 1
B1G Football NC total - 30
SEC:
Alabama - 13
Oklahoma - 7
Texas - 4
LSU - 4
Florida - 3
Tennessee - 2
Georgia - 2
Auburn - 1
Texas A&M - 1
SEC Football NC total: 37
Wishful thinking that Notre Dame is B1G bound in football. You can’t even remotely claim them unless there is a tentative agreement that they are joining.

Of the Big Ten list, since 1970 they have won 14
Of the SEC list, since 1970 they have won 23
However, since 2000 Big Ten total is 4, SEC is 13
