Being a big fan of capitalism, normally I would agree with you but these payments are not necessarily market-driven. Much of NIL money will come from wealthy alums with a purely emotional motive.

I agree in part with your last statement, but that well is only so deep, and are those folks going to keep ponying up after getting burned a few times?
