70 players can make the travel squad - how would you break it down by unit?

Bauer and Fletcher are 1 and 2 at punter, and they are both also 1 and 2 as placekick holders
Then we've got two kickers, and two deep snappers - so that's six guys from the 70 total, leaving us 64 spots for defense and offense and special teams guys off those units
My guess for the remaining 64:
8 linebackers - the true freshmen making the cut in that number would be Powell, Crook and Henley
13 defensive backs
11 defensive linemen
That leaves 32 spots for offense
10 total receivers and slots, including Malik Hornsby
3 QB's, KJ, Fortin and Renfro, not counting 2nd string Malik
3 tight ends enough?
5 running backs
that would leave 11 spots for offensive linemen?
What say ye? Not enough tight ends?
Too many DB's?
Too many defensive linemen? If so, who among the top 11 doesn't get to travel?
Is QB Renfro even past his injury yet to be ready?

Word to the wise:
Teach your kid to be a deep snapper AND punter, if he's good at both, some teams would be after him big time. I seem to remember some deep snappers we had who I think I saw also punting in spring drills. Can't remember a name, maybe the long snapper from El Dorado back a few years ago

Probably only bring 2 qbs and Malik.
Add another spot for oline or tight end. Outside our top 3 TEs I'm not sure the others provide much given formation numbers.

I think you're right on that - NFL teams often go into a game with only two dressed QB's
Here's a breakdown of how NFL teams distribute by unit per a 53 man roster, and keep in mind this is based on a 4-3 defense, so weighted more than us to having more linebackers and DL
QBs 3.77%
RBs 7.5%
WR 11.3%
TE 5.6%
OL 16.98%
DL 16.98%
LB 13.2%
DB 18.86%
So if you plug those percentages into a college 70 man travel roster, here's what you get (again based on a 4-3, 7man front with four DBs)
QBs 2.6 players, or rounded to 3
RBs 5.25 players
WRs 7.91 players
TEs 3.92 players
OL 11.88 players
DL 11.88 players
LB 9.24 players
DB 13 players
So I think you're right okla, we should not travel with 4 QB's, only 3, including Malik obviously
11 DLs and 8 LBs should be plenty for us in a base 6man front, 5 man secondary. Maybe Fayette is right then and we need more than 13 DBs
The NFL percentage would suggest we need 4 tight ends, but the NFL offensive philosophy is more tight end focused than the normal D1 college team
might be nice to take 12 or 13 offensive linemen instead of 11
