The schools you listed will never join the SEC. UNC, UV, and the U will join the B1G when we plant our flag in the south.

B1G already made a play for UNC the way they did for Maryland. While you may have inroads to some in the administration it was overwhelming given the "Hell No" by the alumni, students, and big donors. My guess is you have about as much chance at UNC as you have at Notre Dame.

You have whiffed already on Notre Dame and now you have whiffed on TX (the state) while the SEC got the brand in Oklahoma and the 2 best in Texas (TAMU and Utx). To save face you picked up 2 on the West Coast but they will be more like Nebraska leaving the Big 8 / Big 12 to die in the B1G. You whiffed on Missouri (which would have been a nice pair on a play with Kansas) and you are not getting them from their cozy new nest (and a budding rivalry with Arkansas).

Your greed is your downfall because you are not blending cultures but just trying to pair money, and that often fails in both marriages and business for the same reason. Duke is a Yankee school in a southern state but my guess is they follow UNC, UVA, and VT. My personal observation is the ACC is fine and will get stronger before they get weaker. Part of that is ESPN has both the ACC and the SEC and that is good for business. The bigger part is they both were schools in the old SIAA and SoCon and this affects both scheduling and donors.

UNC has history with multiple schools and that affects alumni and donors
Clemson has history with South Carolina and Georgia
Florida has history with Florida State and Miami
Kentucky has history with Louisville and Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech has history with Georgia and other SEC schools
I am sure there are other ties but those in particular make big donor $$$$ for the respective schools and that does not show up in media deals or balance sheets which all you B1G fanboys seem to have no clue about.

Do you think the SEC will go to 9 games? No, because it would mean the end of these long term rival games and it would cost the schools dearly. That means the ACC and SEC stay intact so ESPN has both. No way any go to the B1G and give up the fan and donor dollars for Indiana or Illinois. As further proof, B1G has not enhanced the brands of schools already added (Michigan State, Penn State, or Nebraska) and I can see the same dead end road for the 2 Cali schools.

If it makes you feel any better, you should study the past in the dictatorship of the 50's, 60's, and 70's that allowed the B1G and PAC the monopoly for 30 years. Think of all this, and the future as karma for your sins of the past. As for the present, the ACC is stronger, not weaker, since the B1G made a grab for Notre Dame and Texas in 2009. South is where the future is and both the ACC and SEC know this.

Although time is running out, I believe that Nebraska could still come back. A lot of people attribute Nebraska’s woes to leaving for the Big Ten, but the Huskers’ biggest mistake was repeatedly firing coaches that won—namely, Solich (.753) and Pelini (.713).

Now some observers might be tempted to point out that neither won the big one during their tenure, but neither did Bob Stoops after his second season. And yet, OU retained Stoops and continued to win 10+ games during most seasons, and that kept the Sooners in the top 10 and relevant to recruits and the media.

Of course, losing pipelines to Texas recruits hurt, but canning coaches that won is what ultimately did them in. If the Huskers want to return to prominence, they need to find a winner and keep him. With their increased revenue, they should be able to attract an elite staff, as well as upgrading their facilities for recruits. I’m not saying that they will return; I’m just saying that it’s possible…at least I hope. Seeing Nebraska down like this just doesn’t feel right.
