Tell me something. Which would be more accurate? A computer ranking that uses facts such as statistics, results, strength of schedule....or a bunch of sportswriters that cannot possibly watch all of the games?

Sports writers

Many of them did have opportunities to watch the games or at least were around at the time the games were played.

They probably had a better understanding about what they were reporting on than someone looking at stats 50 years later.

I'm not sure which one it was, maybe Sagarin, but at the end of 2019 after LSU won the championship, the computer rating still had LSU ranked behind Clemson and Ohio State.

Just my opinion though, I'm not much for revisionist history.

Seriously? You think a sportswriter had time to watch 20 or so games a week? More considering top 20 teams did not play each other every week. It would take more hours than one person had to watch all the games. Most probably didn't even watch all the games from the conference they were covering.

So people who never saw....look. Do you honestly believe that a sportswriter from California had a chance to watch Georgia play games? Very few games were televised in the 70's and earlier. And if you are talking about 1942 there MIGHT have been 2-3 games televised at all.

Neither am I and Georgia was consensus in 1942....but you seem to want to revise that.

Do you really believe a sportswriter in 1942 had a chance to watch a lot of football games?
Very few were even televised back then.

For the record....I am not arguing that Georgia should be ahead of LSU all time. LSU is still ahead of us as a program all time. I don't want our disagreement to be misunderstood.
