Sony Michel initially committed to Georgia despite Chubb's comittment because his fall-back plan if football didn't work out was to be a musician/producer etc, and Athens is a well-know music town with lots of opportunities and connections.

Also, former UGA kicker Billy Bennett used to hang with all the local bands, that's where he always got his recreational necessities and women, just going to rock shows, skipping the bar/club scenes. He was really into hippie jam band music.

Then there's the story about how James Brown wrote a song "Dooley's Junkyard Dawgs" and even performed at halftime in Sanford Stadium in the early 80's. Pretty cool story.

What else yall got?

I remember seeing Brown perform live at the CLOCP my freshman year in Jax. He wrote that song about the '76 team and I seem to remember him performing it at a few games.

Jim Weatherly Ole Miss QB 62-63 took the Rebs to two SEC championships and a Natty and wrote Midnight Train to Georgia.

Kind of distant but Squirrel Nut Zippers’ and multi Grammy winner Jimbo Mathus’ uncle is a Charlie Conerly Ole Miss QB who won several championships for the New York Football Giants and was the Marlboro man.
