We’ll see what happens, but as of yesterday things were being worked on for Harsin to be gone.
And I’m glad because the PTB are right on this one. He was a horrible hire and the program will be in shambles ( worse than now) if he stays.
You think the program is in shambles now, just wait until they fire him after one season because "he can't relate to southern black athletes."
Not only will it be admitting that the players have more power than the coaches at Auburn, but then you're painted into a corner on who to hire next. It would have to be a young black guy that grew up in the hood in the South in order to satisfy the players saying this stuff. You won't get the most qualified coach for the job simply for that reason, let alone the reason of firing the last guy after one season.
It'll also create a huge rift in the locker room, when the players that liked Harsin or simply liked his style resent those that ousted him. They'll also resent the ousters because they'll end up with a less-than-qualified last minute coach that simply checks some minority boxes. A majority of players just want to win and advance their careers to the NFL, no matter how the coach gets them there. I'd be pissed if an unqualified coach now held my future in his hands over something like this.
Plus, a majority of these southern black athletes NEED the strict discipline and structure in their lives, as a lot of them grew up without any. Of course they're not gonna "like" a hardass that suddenly holds them accountable for their actions and doesn't coddle them.
You can't give in to this kind of pressure if you're the AD, it opens a whole can of worms that'll sink your program even further. You'd be admitting that the boosters and a few players hold all the power to make the decisions.

His mistreatment of people goes far beyond that.
