Congrats on playing 4 teams with a winning record I guess

back then, MI, AL & GA Tech were considered powerhouses

FSU was probably considered our "cupcake game"

Vandy is an SEC team

how they did that year doesn't matter; the fact that big name schools were scheduled like that is the point

but I'm guessing you knew that

and I can't believe you took the time to look up the records

I picked that year because we had MI on the schedule and beat them (something I had been looking at based on this years playoffs)

we lost to MI in '57 and had TX & Navy the same year (Navy was good back then)

interesting side note - UGA has now played MI 3 times; twice in Ann Arbor & once in a bowl game - back then, UGA was not good or strong enough to demand a return trip to Athens

Wow, really? OK, let's look at the previous 10 years winning % of these "powerhouses":

Michigan: 55%
GaTech: 63%
FSU: 48%
Vandy: 38%

Wow, brave enough to take on teams that averaged 4-6 wins a season. Incredible. Even Bama had mustered just a 61% winning streak in that timeframe.
