That was the norm in any IN BDE, light or heavy.

If you weren't tabbed, you may get a Delta CO command in a light unit

It was the fast track to TL or SL for enlisted

It's why you went with the mentality that you weren't coming back without it, barring significant injury. It's why Wisconsin Tiger likely hung around dor 121 days.

My one regret in retirement. Did not put forth the effort to pursue my tab while I was in the 25th ID(L) back in the day. They had the best divisional pre-ranger program around. I just did not take advantage of it.

Bingo, especially since I was originally slated to go to 3 BDE 101st. No way I was going to show up there without one. Another guy from our infantry officer class went there and it did not go well for him being “tabless.”
