A tab, you’re right, it’s just school.

Your "I'm Ranger-tabbed" comment brought back memories of an "no shite, there I was" story.

Back when 3/4 was at Carson and the rest of 4ID was at Hood, I was an S6 for a mech Battalion under 3/4. The command climate at the time was toxic because the BC was trying to ensure that all of his leadership had been at any point members of the 75th. He refused to let his S4, who was senior to the other Captains, take command because he hadn't been to Ranger school, but I digress.

During a 4ID Warfighter at Hood, they flew a lot of us down to stay in CHUs and work at the Sim Center (waste of fricking time). During a pause in the exercise, a few of us went to downtown Austin. In between bars, one of the Captains in the group (worthless prior service piece of shite appropriately named "Moon" because he was the embodiment of Moon Moon before it became a meme) started trying to flirt with a couple of women walking down 6th Street. When they blew him off, he yelled, "Well, at least I've got MY TAB, where's yours?!" and pointed to his left shoulder (in civilian clothes).

Sounds like a winner lol.

My point was responding to the OP was calling out fat keyboard warriors but I digress.

What Battalion and when were you there? I was at Fort Carson in 1-68 3/4 from 2012-2014.

That was the norm in any IN BDE, light or heavy.

If you weren't tabbed, you may get a Delta CO command in a light unit

It was the fast track to TL or SL for enlisted

It's why you went with the mentality that you weren't coming back without it, barring significant injury. It's why Wisconsin Tiger likely hung around dor 121 days.

If you don't know what the abbreviations (I used one. CHU = Containerized Housing Unit) mean, the post wasn't meant for you.

My one regret in retirement. Did not put forth the effort to pursue my tab while I was in the 25th ID(L) back in the day. They had the best divisional pre-ranger program around. I just did not take advantage of it.

Take it to the "Stolen Valor" forum you fricking muppets.
