JT Rumor

The following was posted on another site and shared through some alumni circles I am apart of. I don't know if it is true but I have seen it circulate through enough reliable groups that it seems to have some legitimacy. This came from the same guy who broke the AA news to me well before it became public.
Take it as you will.
"someone really connected and close to this program shared with me on Saturday the issue/reason why JT isn't playing. Apparently there was a falling out with JT and Kirby 6 weeks ago. JT's parents and his personal Doctor overruled Ron Courson by saying he wasn't ready to play after he was cleared. Kirby/Monken got pissed as they were already gameplanning with JT and chose to ride Stetson the rest of the way"

lines up with JT being soft, but a friend of a friend rumor usually never pans out.
i do think there is something going on with behind the scenes with JTthough

So even if true, is he not cleared to play now?
And Kirby would risk not winning NC due because of a tiff?

that might explain why Kirby hasn't talked to Jt in 6 weeks (according to SoFl)

He is 100% cleared to play now. The timing of this puts it back to the Kentucky game.

Agreed.
If true, Kirby and Monken have to get over it.

What were SoFl's exact words? I try to keep up with that site but it moves too fast.

i would say thats bigger than a tiff.
your industry renowned sports medicine guys is telling a player he is good to go, and he and his family bring in a personal doctor....probably not the first time this has happened either...and says nah he's not ready to play.
thats basically job abandonment. the opposite of buying in for the team. I could see how that would cause Kirby and Monken to shun him.

Looking out for your kid is never bad.
Thank god for Stet, he is tough.

it is, but lets remember the injury we're talking about. it was an oblique strain, not a neck or back injury. So its not like coming back too soon would damage him long term, plus again Ron Courson is a pretty well respected guy in his field. I don't think he would say he was ready just because.

I still find it odd too that JT looks to have lost all interest.
Even when he goes in, there’s nothing but this melancholy attitude about him

Let's say they do "get over it". What happens when another kid or several kids say they can't play in a game? Maybe it's not worth it to them to risk an injury to play against GT. so they want to sit out. Do you "get over it" and play them in the SECCG?
Or the other players see that Daniels has been cleared but refuses to play, then gets his starting position back when he decides he is ready, and the rest of the players see that as getting preferential treatment. Maybe they played through an injury and risked another injury now JT wants to sit?
How do you think the rest of the team would react to that?
Stop looking at every situation as if it lives in a vacuum, because it doesn't. Every decision made affects a dozen down the line.

True. But to risk a whole season over this? Also, JT seems like he's still all in. Always available to help Stet.
I wish Kirby would come out and better explain the situation

found it
"There’s no grand conspiracy.
Bottom line is Kirby chose Stet because he believes he has a defense that’s good enough to win a championship. JT missed time, and Kirby chose continuity. Kirby hasn’t even talked to JT in nearly 6 weeks; not a legit conversation. It just is what it is.

My theory is that he is already committed to transferring. JT and his parents have told Kirby.
Kirby has asked to keep it out of the transfer portal until the season is over to limit distractions.

more interesting nuggets from SOFLA
"As far as QB, I haven’t agreed with any of it. I’ve been clear and consistent on that. We didn’t lose because of Stetson’s play. Our reality is though, we didn’t and don’t win because of his play either. That’s been our issue at QB during the Kirby era. We have game managers who aren’t capable of winning with their arm and are prone to making mistakes when the ask is to win with arms. Kirby is locked in with Stetson. JT has been the designated backup. Carson is Carson. Brock is a freshman and struggling. So Stetson gives us the best chance to win based on trusting your defense. Can’t switch against bama, reminder Stetson took nearly all the reps these past weeks. It’s not fair to JT to throw him in there, trailing with all eyes on him when he hasn’t been repping as much in practice. *** And we know his talent isn’t great enough to be a savior in that regard.*** Right move to stick with Stetson last night. We knew we we’re in the playoffs regardless.
Too many discount the overall talent and depth of these Kirby teams. There’s only 1-2 games annually where that’s truly challenged. Each year, we’re losing those games. So I get it. I’m frustrated too. It is on our staff. However the glaring difference is QB play. Bryce made plays last night, like the late pitch that when you’ve been around the game long enough, you just know when everything is clicking for a kid. You can’t miss reads that stop the momentum but we’ve been missing reads for 2 years. If this were basketball, it would be much easier to see the differences in star players. It’s like comparing point guards and one is Chris Paul against Lonzo Ball. What we need to realize though, is we only have Lonzo Balls on our team. We don’t have a Chris Paul. JT has been fricked by staff, period. He’s not the only one either. However, if you see yourself as a top 32 NFL QB, you gotta win in practices against Stetson Bennett. It’s not enough to just look slightly better when a coach is heavily leaning towards the other guy. You have to look great, elite in comparison to leave no doubt. That hasn’t happened. JT is better than Stetson but the disparity isn’t vast enough on the practice field. And I’m not just hearing that from a source. Multiple folks have said they both look good or they both did OK. There was a week maybe leading up to fu where JT looked GREAT, but it wasn’t sustained. Kirby has trusted his defense the entire way and it didn’t work last night; they couldn’t carry our team."

If this is true then Kirby needs to find a way to like lowkey confirm this rumor after the season. Based on his docs involvement last season this isn’t too far fetched imho

Most of us knew it wouldn't at some point in the season, hence the problem with riding with Stet. Kirby has to realize he's coaching in the era of offenses carrying teams to championships. Seems like we're saying this every year.

If that is the case then what in the everloving shite was the reason that JTD was the clear and unquestioned starter entering the season?
